Gardening At NSCL

Gardening at NSCL plays an important role in the education process.  Through gardening, we are able to teach students about God's creation, stewardship, problem-solving, patience, responsibility, work, and the fruits of their labor.

This past year, we received initial support from Vego Gardens, as a part of their Giving Back program.  Vego Gardens provided us with three garden beds to begin developing our Garden Classroom. Each week classes go out to work and tend the garden while learning gardening essentials and stewardship principles.

Just as our school is growing each year, so is our garden. This school year we are adding two additional beds along with a compost bin and school composting program.

Thank you Vego Gardens for your support in cultivating experiences for students to learn and grow.

SAILS Class- A Part of NSCL's Leadership Model

STEWARDSHIP, APPRECIATION, INTEGRITY, LEADERSHIP, & SERVICE

The purpose of SAILS Class (Stewardship, Appreciation, Integrity, Leadership, and Service) is to provide students with opportunities to develop skills needed to become leaders in their homes, school, churches, and communities. SAILS is a project-based class focusing on NSCL’s five Expected Student Outcomes and provides real-life applications that students can transfer from the classroom into their everyday lives. Our hope is that students will use these skills for God’s glory and see how they can meaningfully contribute to the lives of others, even at their young ages.

Each nine weeks, students focused on challenges that built and developed skills they could use to make a difference in everyday life.
