Established as a school in 2022, NSCL is an independent, private Christian school and a  ministry of Northside Church. NSCL's vision is to have a fully-accredited program with preschool through 12th grades, to serve Wilmington and its surrounding areas.  NSCL is currently comprised of faculty and students across New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties.

Our initial year will began with one homeroom of  4-year-old Prekindergarten through 2th grade. Fall of 2024 we added PreK 3 and 3rd Grade.  This coming school year we add 4th grade to our elementary grades.

Through a graduated process over the course of several years, Northside plans on housing a full-scale, 501c3 incorporated, private Christian school. The school will seek accreditation from both the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia (formerly Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), both of which are highly respected accreditation agencies recognized by top national and international universities.

The heartbeat of any school is its faculty and staff. Therefore, we expect our teachers and assistants to have the heartbeat of Christ. We will be vigilant in employing highly-qualified personnel who are surrendered to Christ and aligned with the vision, values, and convictions of Northside School. In proportion to the resources God provides, we are also committed to providing our faculty and staff with what they need to fulfill their call in educating their students with integrity, compassion, confidence, and joy. We are also committed to providing a well-rounded education in manageable class sizes.

The Playground Project

On November 15th NSCL hosted its yearly Night of Giving fundraiser to support initiatives to help the school achieve its mission. Each year the funds are raised for targeted needs with this year’s focused on a new playground, establishing a library, and operational expenses. The event was organized by the NSCL Board of Trustees and the NSCL PTF (Parent-Teacher-Fellowship.) This event’s giving goal was $100,000.

The keynote for this year’s event was, “The NSCL Experience.” The goal was to offer the guests an opportunity to see how NSCL is different from other schools and the impact it is making in the lives of their students and families, and the community.

Following a choral performance by the elementary students the third grade class presented their, Playground Project to the audience of over 200 guests.

The Playground Project started the year before as a persuasive essay assignment from their teacher, Mrs. Anne Easterling. With guidance from their teacher, and NSCL Head of School, Mr. Glenn Pleasant, the students developed a presentation to share with Pastor Kenny asking for his blessing for them to move forward. Pastor Kenny shared that he was impressed and that the church would support their efforts if they raised half of the anticipated project costs of approximately $60,000.

At the Night of Giving the class shared their purpose and hope for the playground changes, specifically rubber mulch, a rock wall, and a space that would serve a variety of ages for both the church and school. The students ended the presentation by saying, “If you are familiar with the show Shark Tank this is the part of the pitch where we ask, “Who wants to partner with us in making the Playground Project a reality?” The evening’s guests shared their enthusiasm and applause for their impressive presentation. The night was an overwhelming success with a final total of $102,904 for the event - to God be the Glory!

This Month (March 2025), the current playground area has been cleared, graded, and expanded. Northside Church is expanding the playground area as well as providing additional rubber mulch coverage - what an incredible blessing! We look forward to hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony soon after the project is completed.
